We're Moving!

Our exciting news is that we are buying a house. We've been looking at homes since September but they've all been close to Davis and in our stake. Then over Christmas break we started talking about a town about 40 minutes away. It's called Roseville and what drew us there was that there's an Amtrak train station (Chris' commute), it has a lot of members of the church, homes are so much more affordable than Davis, and it helps that there's every store you can think of to go shopping at. When we got back from Texas we drove around a neighborhood, but we were still deciding. Then a couple of days later we drove around again and I had a list of homes we wanted to drive by. We went to the home that was having an open house first. We couldn't believe what we saw. Our mouths kept dropping as we looked around the house (in a good way) We loved it. And the back yard was amazing. That's why we came to look at the house. We drove to the train station to see how far away it was and then drove back and told them we wanted to make an offer. Chris and I are very indecisive people, so we couldn't believe we had just made a decision. It still felt right, so we went with it. It's been 2 weeks now and it's crazy. We've adjusted more to the idea. We're so excited with a mixture of sadness because we're moving out of Davis. We never thought we would. I guess I'm going to have to change our blog address. We're scheduled to close Feb. 20th. We feel so blessed to be buying this home. If we had waited a day longer we would have missed our chance. There are 3 back up offers on this place. Crazy.

Christmas in Texas

We spent Christmas with my family in Texas. We had a wonderful time. George loved playing with all of his boy cousins. We were busy recording a CD with my siblings over the week I was there. I think we spent about 14 hours in the recording studio. It turned out great and was such a neat experience.

I guess this is the only picture I got of George opening a Christmas present, and it's a tape measure. Wow.

Apple Hill

One of the wonderful beauties of Northern California is Apple Hill. We've been telling George about it for a couple of months now. He's had a picture on the fridge that we drew of all the different apple things we can get there. We managed to eat almost everything from his picture and more. Apple juice, apple candy, apple doughnut, apple pie, apple soda, caramel apple, apple dumpling, and pumpkin apple pie. It was great and such a beautiful day.

Halloween

George was a dinosaur and Tommy was a cute little duck.

Prop 8

Prop 8 is almost over. We are so ready for elections to be here. We've been involved with Proposition 8 since the middle of August either knocking doors or making phone calls. Chris has been so great to go out every Saturday morning for 3 hours knocking doors with other supporters. Not an easy task. Just last week, we stopped knocking and started making phone calls during the week and on Saturdays. Everyone who's able to goes to 1 or 2 houses to make phone calls. We bring our cell phones and we spread out around the house with our lists. It makes me so nervous, but we've finally finished finding out who's voting yes and no, and now we're encouraging the yes voters to vote on election day. We hope all of our hard work pays off.

Happy Birthday Tommy!

Tommy turned 1 year old on the 18th. I've been trying to video more things, so I recorded his birthday, but I did a terrible job of taking pictures. George helped me put streamers up the night before. He was so excited to wake up and show Tommy it was his birthday. We opened presents first thing in the morning, but it was too early for cake. We decided to keep it simple and buy doughnuts that afternoon instead of a cake. George loved his first doughnut when he was this age. Well, unlike George, Tommy didn't want anything to do with his doughnut. We had to force a little piece in his mouth because we thought he'd then like it and start chowing down. Nope. So we didn't get a good messy first birthday cake (doughnut) picture. We're so happy that Tommy's been in our life for a year. He's so sweet and laughs so easily. We are so blessed.

Pajaro Dunes

We had a nice get-away to the beach a couple of weeks ago. We went with Chris' parents and his brother Scott's family. We stayed at a beach house that looked out on the beach. It was so beautiful. Unfortunately, Tommy's at difficult age for beaches. He's crawling and he puts everything in his mouth. So putting him down on the sand wasn't an option. It was still great to be with family in a beautiful place.



Looking for shells with Papa. We had fun dropping the shells (that we bought) on the beach without the kids looking. Boy did they find some great ones.
